Your average 4x4 vehicle probably can't haul over 1500 lbs, so why bother looking anywhere else but at Truckmasters in Phoenix, Arizona and the Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland.
Jeep's Overland variant of the Grand Cherokee has been load tested to surpass 2700 lbs and still travel at highway speeds to its destination. Loaded with 'drywall, plaster, insulation, and hardwood,' the powerful VVT Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 distributed 290 horses at 260 lb-f of torque.
While surging down interstates with all that weight, you are bound to lose some miles per gallon. But Jeep uses the latest in engine tech to assist Grand Cherokee Overland in adding up to a 18 mpg combined fuel economy rating (16 city, 22-23 hwy).
Next year's 4 Wheel Drive SUV will lose the 5-speed automatic in favor of Chrysler's updated 8-speed automatic for 2013. Jeep adds its premium infotainment system as standard on Overland model this year as well, "meaning buyers will get a system with an upgraded interface at no extra cost."1
For a starting price of $42,690, there are few 4WD vehicles on the road today that can take the beating Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland does, while still coming out looking pretty.
